Your dog will be the envy of the neighborhood when she shows off the new skills taught in this 6-week fast-paced class! Improve your dog's self-control, ability to focus, and response around distractions - all while having fun, fun, fun!

Clever Canines is the continuation of our Good Dog Manners and Wonder Pups classes for those who desire to take their dog's behavior and training to a high level.

Polish your dog's good manners and continue to strengthen your relationship while incorporating some of the more complex concepts of positive reinforcement into your dog's training regimen.

During our 6-week Clever Canines class, we will:

• Build and strengthen the dependability of foundation skills so your dog responds even when challenged with increased distractions
• Teach your dog a solid Emergency Recall so your dog comes when you call the first time
• Train useful placement cues ("Go to your Spot") to help your dog remain calm and quiet while participating in family activities, even when company arrives
• Increase your dog's impulse control by teaching response to cues at a distance
• Solidify "attention heeling" so your dog remains riveted on you while walking closely by your side on-leash
• Begin off-leash heeling
• Train the skills related to the Canine Good Citizen program (which are also used as the basis of many therapy dog tests) 

We also add practice scenarios that help you apply your dog's new skills to everyday life, such as greeting people calmly as they approach during walks, appropriate behavior at the door, not touching food left out on the table or counter, and walking by and ignoring smelly things on the ground. And did we mention calling your dog away from another dog or anything else she finds really interesting?!

All family members are invited and encouraged to attend and participate. We continue to provide helpful reference materials to maximize your learning, as well as homework for you and your dog to practice outside of class to help you achieve your training goals.

FREE BONUS SOCIALIZATION OPPORTUNITY!  A socialization and play period is included at the conclusion of each class for dogs with suitable play skills.

Dates: Class meets once a week for 6 weeks on Thursday evenings: August 12, 19, 26, September 2, 9, 16. Your dog attends all 6 sessions.

Requirements: Limited to graduates of our Good Dog Manners and Wonder Pups classes. (Others with equivalent training may be admitted with instructor approval.) Proof of current vaccinations, including Rabies, is required. YOUR DOG ATTENDS ALL 6 SESSIONS.
