Adolescence is a tumultuous time for your maturing puppy – a rollercoaster of emotional, psychological, and physiological changes. This 6-week second level training class includes ongoing socialization and positive interactions with other pups and people to help smooth out this bumpy road!

Wonder Pups is the continuation of our beginning Perfect Puppy training classes for those who desire to take their pup's behavior and training skills to the next level.

Ongoing socialization and training during adolescence and beyond are crucial to helping your dog remain friendly and sociable for life.  Polish your young dog's good manners and continue to strengthen your relationship while incorporating some of the more complex concepts of positive reinforcement into your training regimen.

During our 6-week Wonder Pups class, we will coach you to:

• Build and strengthen the dependability of basic behaviors so your adolescent pup responds even in the face of moderate distractions
• Teach your young dog a solid Emergency Recall so he comes when you call the first time
• Train useful placement cues ("Go to your Place," "Lie Down Here," etc.) to help your maturing puppy remain calm and quiet while participating in family activities, even when company is visiting
• Increase your pup's ability to control himself with intermediate level "Sit/Stay," "Down/Stay," and "Leave It"
• Encourage polite greetings (no jumping up!) when visitors enter your home 
• Prevent dashing through open doors by teaching "Wait" at doorways 
• Solidify good leash manners and begin "attention heeling" so your pup remains attentive to you while walking by your side
• You'll even teach your pup a fun trick or two!

Tons of socialization exercises with both people and other pups are included in the class!  We also add practice scenarios that help you apply your adolescent pup's new skills to everyday life, such as greeting people calmly as they approach during walks, appropriate behavior at the door, not touching food left out on the table or counter, and walking by and ignoring smelly things on the ground. And did we mention calling your pup away from another dog or anything else he finds really interesting?!

All family members are invited to attend and participate in your young dog's intermediate level training. We continue to provide useful reference materials to maximize your learning, plus homework for you and your pup to practice outside of class to help you achieve your training goals.

Dates: Class meets once a week for 6 weeks on Thursday evenings: August 12, 19, 26, September 2, 9, 16. Your pup attends all 6 sessions.

Requirements: Limited to pups up to 8 months that have completed our beginning Perfect Puppy course. (Others with equivalent training may be admitted with instructor approval.) Proof of current vaccinations, including Rabies, is required. YOUR PUP ATTENDS ALL 6 SESSIONS.
